Beverly Brewer I grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma, a town of approximately 25,000 in northern Oklahoma. Always interested in art, I originally majored in fine arts at Oklahoma State University, but switched to Education, majoring in art. After graduation with a B.S., my husband and I moved to Oklahoma City where we had two sons. The four of us then moved to Dallas, I received a Master of Education from Texas A & M University, Commerce, and eventually spent 27 years teaching school and spending some of my spare time working with stained glass. After retirement we moved to Lake Cypress Springs and I began oil painting, studying with Jo Taylor, Lucy Ellis, Xiang Zhang, Bruce Peil, David Bates, Joe Anna Arnett, Jaye Franklin, and Sherrie McGraw. Other mediums included pen and ink in which I illustrated several publications and did many renditions of homes and buildings for Mt. Vernon, Texas, graphite and charcoal. For the past year, I’ve also been working with fine art on gourds, incorporating pyrography and acrylics. Designs and pottery of all kinds have been my inspiration. My objective is to create beauty others can appreciate and I can enjoy. “The aim of art is to represent not the appearance of things, but their inner significances.” -- Aristotle
