Cindy Kent

Cindy received a degree in art education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, with an emphasis in painting and drawing.  She has taught art in the public secondary schools in northeast Texas for the past 16 years.  In addition she served on the museum staff of the cultural Activities Center in Temple, Texas
Now retired from teaching, Cindy spends many hours in her newly built studio making pottery.  She explains, “Several years ago I re-discovered my love for working with clay and it has become the primary medium for my art.  All pieces are hand-built in either stoneware or terracotta, and most of my stains and glazes are earth tones.  Many pieces actually have imprints of found objects, such as leaves, flowers, pods, and shells. Some are functional and some are purely sculptural." Cindy and her husband Bill live in the Mt. Vernon, Texas area.
