Dean Todd

Being raised in SE Oklahoma and of Navajo descent, the Native American culture is often depicted in much of Dean's work. Preferring to paint in oils, much of his work depicts wildlife and landscapes in an unspoiled and untouched state. His use of earth tone colors are dominant in the Native American works, however one can also see brighter colors in the clouds, skies and occasionally in the clothing.

Dean's interest in art didn't begin until his mid-thirties. At that time and for the next 5 years Dean was self-taught. Soon afterwards he enrolled in art lessons and joined the Art Study Club in Paris, Texas.

At present Dean is represented and sells his work through the Plaza Art Gallery, Paris, Texas, Creative Art Center, Bonham, Texas and at The Frame Up/Gallery in Mt. Vernon, Texas.

Dean says he strives to produce a work that will take you to a time and place that is an escape from everyday life, a place that gives one a feeling of tranquility, dignity and simplicity.
